Finding new sales opportunities for a new or established B2B company can be a real pain.
Everyone knows that referrals are the best converting leads but the problem is companies can’t just rely on referrals for growth.
In this article we are going to explore 3 strategies any company can use to generate B2B leads without the support of a sales team or large marketing budget.
Strategy 1 - LinkedIn!
LinkedIn is a goldmine for building a pipeline of sales opportunities. The problem is a lot of people misuse the platform by spamming as many prospects as possible to get their desired outcome.
Whilst we’re not against using automation tools to build a network of relevant decision makers, we are against carpet bombing connections with spammy messages. The video below reveals 10 templates that have produced thousands of leads for our clients over the last 3 years so feel free to use this as inspiration.
We’ve also recently completed a 2 hour intensive LinkedIn and email training which I have embedded below. If you want the training sent to your inbox feel free to visit the RooCru website and we will send it straight over!
Strategy 2 - Email
Email is probably one of the most underutilised prospecting strategies for two reasons.
Firstly, companies will send emails to outdated email accounts that bounce back as undeliverable. Not only does this hurt your deliverability for future campaigns, it’s also a massive waste of time.
The second reason people struggle is because they attempted cold email once, failed and now believe it can't work for their business. When I first started in sales we were provided with a copy and paste template to send to prospective clients. It was long, boring and contained PDF brochures. Unsurprisingly it would take thousands of emails to get a positive response.
You need to be able to communicate your value in a few sentences. The email should not contain more than 3 very short paragraphs, you just want them to request more information to start building a relationship. You're never going to get someone to buy straight away from a cold email. It needs to be used as part of a funnel building exercise.
At RooCru it took us a while before we discovered a system that works for our clients. Today our email campaigns deliver more leads for our clients than LinkedIn!
The video below shows you how you can write cold emails that generate B2B leads.
Strategy 3 - Content
Creating content is a drag. It’s time consuming and it take months to reap the benefits.
However, some companies are able to generate hundreds of leads from one piece of high quality content so it can certainly be worthwhile but you need to focus on evergreen content.
What is evergreen content? It’s a piece of content that does not become outdated quickly.
An example could be an accountant creating a YouTube video that shows you how to create a certain formula on Excel.
An example could be an accountant creating a YouTube video that shows you how to create a certain formula on Excel. Excel barely ever changes so the video remains relevant for any viewers that need help with that particular formula. The creator of the video has the opportunity to build rapport with the viewer which results in trust being formed. The viewer is much more likely to consider their services when the creator has already delivered value to their business and this is how many B2B YouTubers generate leads and followers.
If you're not comfortable with producing video content then why not produce a blog, article, whitepaper or research report that will be relevant over a long period of time. If you only create content that is trending at the time you will be continuously producing new material. Focus on quality not quantity.
