This might seem like a strange place to start but I want to take crypto currencies as a prime example… You see, you don’t have to understand how the blockchain works in order to profit wildly from Bitcoin. All you need to do is understand when to get in and when to get out.
This is the same methodology RooCru uses when selling in a service to a cold market. Your potential prospects don’t need to know all the ins and outs of your product, they just need to know if you can help solve a problem they’re experiencing.
I’ve worked with lots of clients selling SEO (search engine optimization) as a service and I’ve seen a few really bad emails that haven't generated any sales appointments despite sending to volume (over 5000 prospects).
The reason is because they focused on the technical side of SEO and expected prospects to see value in backlinks etc. They’re speaking a language that the prospect doesn't understand.
If I was selling SEO I’d like to get as specific as possible to individuals needs. The goal would be to highlight an area of opportunity for the prospect and allow them to see what the future might look like if they decide to work with me.
Here’s an example of how this might play out…
Hi Name,
I’m looking for Landscaping companies in the Cambridge area that are interested in taking on new projects in the next 3 - 12 months and I wanted to reach out and see if (company name) has extra capacity?
My name is Matt and I’m part of ABC Marketing. We specialize in helping Landscaping businesses double their revenues by getting you in front of people who need your services the most.
We recently did this with Bobs Landscapes based Essex and he was able to add over £500k per year in revenue. We also helped Frank’s Landscaping in London and he added over £30K per month in revenue in just under 8 months.
I’ve done a little digging into landscaping in Cambridge and noticed there are 1200 searches a month. My business can help you get found by all of these people searching for the exact services you offer.

You’ll notice that there’s not a single mention of SEO in this email, the message simply states why I’m reaching out and the value I could add to the business. The goal is for my prospects to focus on the outcome I provide, not the service I’m selling… that bit comes in later.
A huge mistake which I see a lot is companies trying to sell their services through one email and not fully understanding the sales process.
I have used this message for my SEO clients and they typically generate 20 sales appointments per 1000 prospects (2% booking rate) and a 15% - 25% conversion rate into deals when the sales process has been optimized.
Key things to note:
Keeping your message niche specific allows you to have a hyper relevant email
A little bit research goes a long way
Credibility is massive, try and show your prospects the transformations that you have achieved with clients just like them.
Future pace, show your clients the opportunities and where they could be in 12 months from now.
